Dusit Hotels and Resorts expands into India with Devarana Sakleshpur, Karnataka

Dusit Hotels and Resorts, a division of Thailand’s leading hospitality group Dusit International, has entered a strategic hotel management agreement with Shravanthi Hotels and Resorts Private Limited to open a luxury wellness retreat in Sakleshpur, Karnataka. Named Devarana Sakleshpur, Karnataka – A Dusit Retreat, the landmark property will be Dusit’s first Devarana Retreat outside China, highlighting the brand’s commitment to expanding its wellness-focused offerings to exclusive locations worldwide. Scheduled to open in March 2028, this project reflects Dusit’s continued emphasis on creating transformative stay experiences.

Devarana Sakleshpur will feature 75 upscale villas and suites, designed to provide an immersive wellness journey for both domestic and international travelers. Accommodation sizes will range from 47 to 90 square meters, with 25 units boasting private plunge pools. The retreat will include a Devarana Wellness Centre with a gym, movement studio, herbal steam room, and wellness consultation services for personalized, holistic programs. Guests will also enjoy an infinity pool, a specialty South Indian restaurant, and a dining venue focused on nutritious cuisine.

Set amidst the serene landscape of the Western Ghats, a four-hour drive from Bengaluru, Sakleshpur is celebrated for its lush coffee and spice plantations, ancient temples, and trails through the Bisle Reserve Forest—a biodiversity hotspot. The retreat will be conveniently located near scenic attractions such as the Manjarabad Fort and Jenukallu Gudda peak, both renowned for their panoramic views. Mangalore International Airport is 130 km from the property, and Sakleshpur Railway Station is just 20 km away.

“We are thrilled to bring our Thai-inspired hospitality to the beautiful landscape of Sakleshpur, which perfectly complements the wellness ethos of our Devarana brand,” said Gilles Cretallaz, COO of Dusit International. “This destination aligns seamlessly with our commitment to offer healing, transformative experiences in private, nature-rich sanctuaries. Devarana Sakleshpur will offer our guests an immersive wellness journey that nurtures the mind, body, and soul, all while honoring the pristine environment and cultural heritage of Karnataka.”

Santosh Balakrishna, Executive Director of Shravanthi Hotels and Resorts commented, “Partnering with Dusit Hotels and Resorts for this project reflects our shared vision of creating authentic, wellness-centered retreats. With Dusit’s expertise and our extensive experience in luxury real estate and hospitality, we are confident that Devarana Sakleshpur will set new standards for wellness and luxury, offering guests an inspiring escape in Karnataka’s Western Ghats.”

Dusit’s portfolio now spans 301 properties in 18 countries, including 57 under Dusit Hotels and Resorts and 244 luxury villas managed by Elite Havens, Asia’s premier luxury villa provider, which includes a collection in Goa. This December, Dusit Hotels and Resorts will re-enter India with the soft opening of dusitD2 Fagu in the foothills of the Himalayas near Shimla. Four additional Dusit-branded properties are planned for Karnataka by mid-2026.
