Israel’s Tourism Minister Highlights Safety & Growth Plans in India, Inaugurates OTM 2025

Israel’s Minister of Tourism, Haim Katz, recently visited India to strengthen tourism ties, engaging with key industry stakeholders through networking events and strategic meetings. During his visit, he met with India’s Minister of Tourism, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, to discuss enhanced cooperation, cultural connections, and tourism growth between the two nations. The Israel Ministry of Tourism (IMOT) delegation, including Ambassador Peleg Lewi and International Marketing Director Hassan Madah, also met Air India CEO Campbell Wilson to explore ways to improve connectivity and facilitate seamless travel to Israel.

Minister Katz inaugurated OTM 2025 at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai on January 30, underscoring India’s importance as a key market. He emphasized Israel’s commitment to engaging with Indian travel trade, highlighting initiatives like the e-Visa system and enhanced outreach at major exhibitions. The Israel pavilion at OTM won the Best Booth Decoration Award for its visually immersive and interactive design.

Networking events in Delhi and Mumbai brought together travel associations, industry professionals, and OTAs to discuss strategies for promoting Israel as a preferred travel destination. Minister Katz noted a significant rise in Indian travelers visiting Israel in 2024 and reassured visitors of the country’s safety and hospitality. He encouraged Indian tourists to experience Israel beyond traditional routes, offering diverse and immersive experiences.

Despite geopolitical challenges, Israel recorded 9,600 Indian tourist arrivals in 2024, demonstrating strong market potential. With the recent ceasefire and Air India resuming flights to Israel from March 2025, tourism numbers are expected to grow further. Israel welcomed a total of 961,700 global tourists in 2024, and with renewed connectivity and strategic initiatives, the country aims to attract even more visitors in the coming year.
