Radisson Hotel Group has crossed a significant milestone in Africa, with more than 100 hotels now either in operation or under development across the continent, marking a major step forward in its long-term growth strategy.
The expansion has been driven by the strong presence of its flagship brand Radisson Blu, alongside the rapid growth of Radisson-branded properties through a mix of conversions and new signings. Over the past year alone, the group added 15 new hotels and approximately 2,500 rooms, while also entering new markets such as the Democratic Republic of Congo and Zimbabwe.
The group continues to prioritise key markets including Morocco, South Africa and Nigeria, where it is actively deepening its footprint. In Nigeria alone, Radisson has 13 hotels either operational or in the pipeline, with the capital city Abuja set to host three new projects comprising a total of 458 rooms.
In South Africa, the group is expanding its presence across major urban hubs such as Cape Town, Durban and Pretoria, as well as key leisure destinations including Kruger National Park and Sun City, reflecting a balanced strategy between business and leisure travel segments.
Looking ahead, Radisson Hotel Group is planning to enter emerging destinations such as Zanzibar, while also exploring safari and lodge opportunities across Namibia, Botswana and Zambia. The company’s growth has also been significantly supported by conversions, with more than 15 hotels, accounting for nearly 3,000 rooms, joining its portfolio over the past five years.
Among its upcoming developments, the group has a strong pipeline of projects including Radisson Blu Hotel in Kinshasa, expected to open in late 2026, Radisson Blu Apartments in Lubumbashi targeted for 2030, and Radisson Resort Ain Sokhna Groove in Egypt planned for 2029. Other notable additions include a dual hotel and serviced apartment development in Rabat, a luxury oceanfront Radisson Collection property in Lagos Atlantic, and the Park Inn by Radisson resort near Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, all expected to further strengthen the brand’s premium and leisure offerings.
This expansion aligns with the group’s 2030 growth ambition, combining a strong presence in established markets with strategic entry into new destinations. With a footprint now spanning over 30 countries, Radisson Hotel Group is positioning itself as one of the most diverse and rapidly growing hospitality operators in Africa.
