In a significant move to redefine niche hospitality in India, OYO’s SUNDAY Hotels has launched the country’s first full-scale Japanese-themed hotel, spanning 50,000 square feet at M3M SkyLoft on New Golf Course Road Extension in Gurugram. This newly inaugurated property is the largest SUNDAY Hotel in India, featuring 217 keys and offering a one-of-a-kind experience inspired by authentic Japanese culture.
Designed in collaboration with Japanese designers, the hotel offers a traditional Ofuro (Japanese bath) for guest relaxation and a 20-seater Japanese restaurant serving a curated menu including sushi, ramen, udon, donburi, onigiri, tofu, and more. A standout feature is the inclusion of a Japanese Hammam, adding a luxurious wellness touch to the stay. Minimalist interiors, tatami mats, and Japanese hospitality practices create an immersive cultural experience, tailored especially for Japanese guests and those seeking refined international standards.
SUNDAY Hotel’s launch is part of a broader Memorandum of Understanding between Oravel Stays and M3M to develop premium hospitality infrastructure across Gurgaon and NOIDA. Recognising the growing demand from long-term Japanese business travelers, the property includes a dedicated 54-room wing for extended stays, complete with Japanese-speaking staff to ensure seamless communication and culturally familiar service.
With Gurugram hosting one of the largest Japanese expatriate populations in India and being a hub for global business travel, the location was a strategic choice. The hotel is already seeing interest from several Japanese corporations that have designated it as a preferred accommodation partner for visiting executives.
Aditya Sharma, Country Head of SUNDAY Hotels, stated, “This hospitality concept has been carefully crafted to meet the lifestyle and comfort preferences of Japanese travelers. We are delivering a true cultural experience by blending Japanese design, cuisine, and service practices within a contemporary Indian setting.”
The opening of this Japanese-themed hotel underscores OYO’s strategy to cater to global travelers by offering culturally nuanced, high-quality experiences in India’s key business cities.
